How to Use This Tool
Upload Your SVG Files
Click the upload area, drag and drop files, or paste from clipboard (Ctrl+V). Accepts SVG files up to 25 MB each, 100 MB total, and up to 10 files at once.
Choose a Scale
Select a scale multiplier from the dropdown: 0.5x (half size), 1x (original), 2x (double), 3x, or 4x. Higher scales produce larger, higher-resolution PNG images — ideal for retina displays and print.
Convert
Click Convert or Convert All. Each SVG is rasterized with a progress spinner on its thumbnail. The conversion happens instantly in your browser.
Download
Download a single converted PNG directly, or download all converted images as a ZIP archive. Files keep their original names with the extension changed to .png.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the scale setting do?
▼
The scale multiplier controls the output PNG resolution. An SVG with intrinsic dimensions of 200×150 at 2x produces a 400×300 PNG. Higher scales mean more pixels, sharper detail, and larger file sizes. Use 1x for web, 2x for retina, 4x for print.
Does converting SVG to PNG reduce quality?
▼
Converting from vector to raster is a one-way process — the resulting PNG is fixed at the resolution you choose. At the selected scale, the PNG is a pixel-perfect rasterization. Choose a higher scale if you need more detail.
Why is there a white background on my PNG?
▼
SVGs often have transparent backgrounds. Since many use cases (documents, presentations, email) don't handle transparency well, the tool fills transparent areas with white. If you need a transparent PNG, edit the result in an image editor.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
▼
No. This tool runs 100% in your browser. Your files never leave your device. The conversion happens locally using your browser's built-in Canvas API. No data is transmitted, no cookies are used, and no third-party services have access to your files.
What is the maximum file size?
▼
Each file can be up to 25 MB, with a total limit of 100 MB across all uploaded files. You can upload up to 10 SVG files at once.
Can I convert PNG back to SVG?
▼
Not with this tool. Converting raster (PNG) to vector (SVG) requires tracing algorithms that approximate the image with shapes. Our Image Converter tool can trace raster images to SVG, but the result is an approximation, not a perfect conversion.
What scale should I use for favicons?
▼
Favicons are typically 16×16, 32×32, or 48×48 pixels. If your SVG is designed at those dimensions, use 1x. If your SVG is larger (e.g., 512×512), you'll want to resize separately using our Image Resizer tool after conversion.
Can I convert animated SVGs?
▼
The tool captures a static snapshot of the SVG. CSS animations, SMIL animations, and JavaScript-driven animations in the SVG will be captured at their initial state, not as animated sequences.
Why do some SVGs look different after conversion?
▼
Some SVGs use external fonts, linked images, or CSS that may not be available during browser rendering. The conversion captures exactly what the browser renders, so if fonts are missing, the browser's fallback font is used instead.
Will my files be saved if I close the browser?
▼
Yes. Your uploaded files and conversion results are automatically saved in your browser's IndexedDB storage. When you return to this page, everything is restored exactly as you left it. Click Clear All to remove all stored data.
What Is SVG to PNG Converter?
SVG to PNG Converter is a free browser-based tool that rasterizes your SVG vector graphics into PNG images. SVG files are resolution-independent vectors — they look sharp at any size but can't be used everywhere. Many platforms, apps, and workflows require raster images like PNG. This tool lets you convert SVGs to PNG at any scale, from 0.5x to 4x, producing pixel-perfect raster images.
Everything runs 100% in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to any server. You can convert up to 10 SVG files at once, choose a scale multiplier, and download results individually or as a ZIP archive.
Features Explained
Custom Scale Multiplier
▼
Choose from 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 3x, or 4x to control the output resolution. A 100×100 SVG at 2x produces a 200×200 PNG. Use 2x or 3x for retina displays, 4x for print, and 0.5x for thumbnails.
Vector to Raster Conversion
▼
SVG is a vector format — it describes shapes with math, not pixels. This tool rasterizes the vector into a pixel grid at your chosen scale, producing a standard PNG that works everywhere raster images are needed.
White Background Fill
▼
SVG files often have transparent backgrounds. During conversion, transparent areas are filled with white to produce a clean PNG suitable for documents, presentations, and platforms that don't support transparency.
Batch Processing
▼
Upload and convert up to 10 SVG files at once. Each file is processed individually with its own progress indicator. All files share the same scale setting and are converted in a single pass.
Drag & Drop Upload
▼
Drag SVG files directly from your file explorer onto the upload area. You can drop multiple files at once. The tool validates each file and shows an error if a file exceeds the 25 MB size limit.
Clipboard Paste
▼
Press Ctrl+V to paste an SVG file from your clipboard. This is useful for quickly converting SVGs copied from design tools or code editors.
ZIP Download
▼
When converting multiple files, download all results as a single ZIP archive. Each file inside keeps its original name with the extension changed to .png. For a single file, the download is a direct PNG.
Auto-Save Progress
▼
Your uploaded files and conversion results are saved automatically in your browser using IndexedDB. If you close the tab or refresh, everything is restored. Click Clear All to remove all stored data.

Tips for Converting SVG to PNG
Use 2x for retina displays
Modern screens (MacBooks, iPhones, high-DPI monitors) use 2x pixel density. Converting at 2x produces PNGs that look sharp on these displays without being excessively large.
Use 4x for print
Print materials require high resolution (300 DPI). Converting at 4x gives you enough pixels for crisp printed output. A 100×100 SVG becomes a 400×400 PNG — plenty for most print sizes.
Use 0.5x for thumbnails
If you need small preview images or thumbnails, 0.5x produces compact PNGs that load quickly. Ideal for file listings, navigation menus, and sidebar widgets.
Keep your original SVGs
SVG is resolution-independent — you can always re-convert at a different scale. Keep the vector originals and generate PNGs as needed for specific use cases.
White background is applied
SVGs with transparent backgrounds get a white fill during conversion. If you need transparency in your PNG, edit the result in an image editor to remove the white background.
Use for email graphics
Email clients don't support SVG. Convert your SVG newsletter graphics, icons, and logos to PNG before inserting them into email templates.
Convert for social media
Social platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) don't accept SVG uploads. Convert to PNG at 2x for sharp, high-quality social media images.
Use batch mode for icon sets
If you have an icon library in SVG format, upload all icons at once, select your desired scale, and download the entire set as a ZIP of PNGs.
Check SVG dimensions first
SVG files have intrinsic dimensions (width/height attributes or viewBox). The scale multiplier applies to these dimensions. If your SVG is 24×24, a 4x conversion produces a 96×96 PNG.
Use for app icons
Convert your SVG app icon at different scales to generate the various sizes needed for Android (48-192px) and iOS (60-1024px) app stores.
