Frequently Asked Questions
Is this tool really free?
▼
Yes, completely free with no limits and no sign-up. Everything runs in your browser with no server costs.
Is my data sent to a server?
▼
No. All conversion math happens directly in your browser. Nothing you type is ever sent anywhere.
What temperature scales are supported?
▼
Four: Celsius (used worldwide for everyday temperatures), Fahrenheit (used mainly in the United States), Kelvin (used in science, starts at absolute zero), and Rankine (used in some engineering fields, starts at absolute zero on the Fahrenheit scale).
How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?
▼
Just type the Celsius value, set From to Celsius and To to Fahrenheit, and the result appears instantly. The formula is (C x 9/5) + 32, but you do not need to remember it.
How do I convert Fahrenheit to Celsius?
▼
Type the Fahrenheit value, set From to Fahrenheit and To to Celsius, and the result appears instantly. The formula is (F - 32) x 5/9.
What is Kelvin?
▼
Kelvin is the scientific temperature scale. It starts at absolute zero (the coldest possible temperature, about -273.15 Celsius). Water freezes at 273.15 K and boils at 373.15 K.
What is Rankine?
▼
Rankine is like Kelvin but on the Fahrenheit scale. It also starts at absolute zero but uses Fahrenheit-sized degrees. It is mainly used in some engineering fields in the United States.
Can I enter negative temperatures?
▼
Yes. Negative values are fully supported, which is important for temperatures below zero in Celsius and Fahrenheit.
Can I see all four scales at once?
▼
Yes. The All Conversions panel below the main result shows the same temperature in every other scale simultaneously.
How accurate are the conversions?
▼
Results are displayed to 6 decimal places. The tool uses the standard conversion formulas, so results are accurate for everyday, educational, and professional use.
What Is Temperature Converter?
Temperature Converter is a free tool that converts between Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin, and Rankine right in your browser. Type a temperature, pick your scales, and see the result instantly. The All Conversions panel shows the same value in every other scale at once, so you never have to convert one pair at a time. Nothing you type is ever sent anywhere - all math runs locally on your device.
Temperature conversion uses formulas (not simple multiplication), and the tool handles them all for you. Whether you are converting a weather forecast, a recipe, a science problem, or an engineering spec, just type the number and read the answer.

Tips for Best Results
Common reference points
Water freezes at 0 C / 32 F / 273.15 K. Water boils at 100 C / 212 F / 373.15 K. Normal body temperature is about 37 C / 98.6 F.
Quick mental estimate for C to F
Double the Celsius value and add 30 for a rough estimate. For example, 20 C is roughly 20 x 2 + 30 = 70 F (exact is 68 F). Good enough for weather.
Quick mental estimate for F to C
Subtract 30 and halve the result. For example, 80 F is roughly (80 - 30) / 2 = 25 C (exact is 26.67 C).
Use the swap button
Click the swap button between the dropdowns to flip From and To instantly instead of changing both dropdowns manually.
Check all four scales at once
The All Conversions panel below the main result shows the same temperature in every other scale. Use it when you need Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin at the same time.
Negative temperatures are fine
The tool handles negative values, which is important for sub-zero weather, freezer temperatures, and science problems involving cryogenic ranges.
Kelvin has no degree symbol
Kelvin is written as just K, not degrees K. The tool handles this correctly. For example, 300 K, not 300 degrees K.
Rankine for US engineering
Rankine is mainly used in thermodynamic calculations in the United States. It starts at absolute zero like Kelvin but uses Fahrenheit-sized degrees.
Copy the result in one click
