Military to PM: subtract 12

For hours 13 and above, subtract 12 to get the PM hour. 17:00 = 5:00 PM.

Midnight is 00:00

12:00 AM in 12-hour time is 00:00 in military time. This is the most commonly confused conversion.

Noon is 12:00

12:00 PM stays 12:00 in military time. It does not become 00:00 or 24:00.

Minutes stay the same

Only the hour changes when converting. Minutes carry over directly: 3:45 PM = 15:45.
